Our future growth

Our Northern Runway project will create more jobs and boost the economy

Helping the UK to grow

London Gatwick is already a major catalyst for growth, domestically and internationally connected, easily accessible, and equipped with world-class facilities. We are facing growth constraints, and with 75 million passengers predicted to travel through the airport each year by the late 2030s, we want to be able to meet this demand.

We have a ready-made solution. Our Northern Runway, currently used as a standby, could be made operational for routine use without major disruption.

Our £2.2 billion privately-funded Northern Runway project will create 14,000 jobs and generate £1 billion for the economy every year.

With a decision expected from the Government in early 2025, the project is shovel-ready and could be in operation by the end of the decade.

It meets the Government's test of making best use of existing infrastructure and maximising growth. Because the runway already exists, the work will be completed with minimal disruption and most construction work will be within our airport boundary.

Growing businesses

We’re an active and engaged member of Gatwick Diamond Business, and are delighted to help its members thrive through providing jobs, opportunities and driving investment, as a pillar of the local economy.
