Airline moves FAQs

Some of our airlines moved terminals in January 2017. We've included the most frequently asked questions about the changes below.

Which airlines moved?

Three airlines - British Airways, easyJet and Virgin Atlantic - have moved terminals:

  • All easyJet flights now depart from the North Terminal
  • British Airways flights depart from the South Terminal
  • Virgin Atlantic flights depart from the North Terminal.

Am I affected?

If you are flying with easyJet, British Airways or Virgin Atlantic, you need to be aware that your flight may depart from a different terminal than it has in the past.

If you departed from Gatwick before 24/25 January 2017, but are returning afterwards, it’s likely that you’ll arrive in a different terminal.

Passengers flying with any other airline are not affected by the moves.

How are British Airways passengers affected?

All British Airways flights now depart from the South Terminal.

If you’re used to travelling with British Airways from the North Terminal, there are a few things you should check:

Parking – you might want to book ahead for the South Terminal car parks. If you’ve already booked into the North Terminal, don’t worry, you can use the free shuttle service to transfer between the two.

Lounges – if you usually visit My Lounge or the Aspire Lounge in the North Terminal, you might want to try one of our South Terminal lounges. The Regus Express business lounge is located in the South Terminal, while the No. 1 Lounge and Regus Express work pods are in both.

Hotels – while all hotels are located with easy access to both terminals, Bloc, Yotel and Hilton are the closest to the South Terminal.

Shopping and restaurants – there’s a great range in both terminals. Browse all our shops and restaurants

Why have the airlines moved terminals?

The moves are part of Gatwick’s ongoing programme of work, which is transforming the airport and making it even better for passengers. We are investing £2.5 billion across the terminals, with every part of the passenger experience being improved - check-in, bag drop, security, lounges, gaterooms and arrivals.

What do I need to do?

We’re doing everything we can to keep your journey as easy as possible, so you’ll just need to check which terminal you’re departing from and head straight there. Check your terminal now.

We’d also advise you to check your parking and hotel reservations, and to confirm pick up and drop off locations based on your new terminal. If you do find yourself in the wrong terminal, you can travel between the two quickly and easily with our free shuttle service.

Our staff will be on hand to point you in the right direction if you need any help.

How do I know which terminal to go to?

Your airline should have told you which terminal you’re departing from. If you’re not sure, you can check here

How do I get to my terminal?

If you’re arriving at the airport by train, you’ll find yourself in the South Terminal. Virgin and easyJet passengers should then board the shuttle service, located close to the train station, which will take you to the North Terminal in just a few minutes.

If you’re arriving by car, you'll find plenty of parking and drop-off points at both terminals.

If you find yourself at the wrong terminal, you can use the free shuttle service to travel between the two. And if you’re not sure where to go, our staff will be on hand to help.

Will I have access to the same shops and restaurants?

Both terminals have a great range of shops and restaurants. Browse all shops and restaurants here and see which terminal they’re in.

Will I have access to the same lounges?

You can access a No. 1 Lounge in either terminal, and there are several other lounges to choose from.

In the North Terminal, you’ll also find My Lounge and the Aspire Lounge. In the South Terminal you’ll find the Regus Express business lounge (before security).
